Pedestrian and Bicycle Friendly

Aside from the fact that downtown Punta Gorda offers prime meeting space and high quality lodging options, the charming historic district provides many amenities and entertainment choices to ensure a memorable experience for all visitors. There is little to no need for hiring ground transportation as there are over two dozen dining establishments along with a variety of shops and entertainment venues within a 3 block radius to which attendees can leisurely walk. Or to explore the destination further take advantage of Punta Gorda’s Free Bike Loaner Program.

Culinary Scene

Whether it’s an upscale dining experience offered by the Turtle Club or authentic Fish & Chips featured at the Celtic Ray, downtown Punta Gorda will surprise your palate with creative, talented chefs cooking up delectable dishes spanning an array of cuisines. Can you beat Bobby Flay? Chef Jeanie Roland, a five- time James Beard Foundation Best Chef of the South semi-finalist, did and you can sample her spectacular recipes at The Perfect Caper. If seafood is what you’re craving, try the crab legs or sushi bar at Laishley Crab House which also features a private dining room capable of accommodating up to 150. For smaller groups, several other downtown restaurants offer private dining as well including River City Grill and Jack’s On Marion. And save room for dessert so you can visit Harborwalk Scoops & Bites, ranked the #1 ice cream shop in the U.S. by TripAdvisor reviewers.

Unique Attractions/Offsite Group Activities

Regardless of your purpose for visiting the Charlotte Harbor Event & Conference Center, there is a myriad of unique attractions that can be experienced as part of a group activity or during your individual free time. For casual networking consider a golf outing at one of our highly rated courses such as Riverwood Golf Club, recently ranked the #15 course in the entire state of Florida. Or if team building is what you’re looking for, Florida Tracks & Trails offers 80 acres of paintball along with other team building programs and activities, while the Visual Arts Center can customize a group workshop offering an art medium of your choice. Interested in something a little more passive? Punta Gorda is home to Peace River Wildlife Center, Muscle Car City Museum, the Military Heritage Museum and the Vietnam Memorial of Southwest Florida…or check the event schedule to see what festival or activity may be occurring at Laishley Park or Gilchrist Park. Also, just a mile down the road is the must-see Fishermen’s Village which has something for everyone: over 30 specialty/boutique shops, a variety of sightseeing cruises as well as fishing charters through King Fisher Fleet, boat/jet ski/kayak rentals, four restaurants, live entertainment and the above-mentioned Military Heritage Museum.
